Passion Project

Passion project is when you pick something you’re passionate about and you then take that idea and put it into a project. The project has to fit under 1 or more, of these categories. Enterprise, Globalization, Citizenship, and Sustainability. You had the choice to do it individually or to collaborate, I chose to collab with Violet.

Our Idea was to persuade the SPCA into letting us advertise the animals so the people in Taranaki can see how loving they actually by coming to the Opening day we were going to host. We had lots of trouble because When we asked North Taranaki SPCA if we could do this they said that they host an opening day every Year in  February.

We had to change our Idea and we didn’t know what to do so then Mrs. McA helped us change the idea into just advertising the Animals that have been at the SPCA for the longest.

Our success was that we gave all of the animals that we advertised homes to lovely owners.Violet and I were very grateful that Blossom and coke (the ones we advertised) got lovely homes.

If we did this again we would try and get the task done faster.

Its Flooding!

We had climbed the fence when I saw that the Trees and plants had drizzles of rain drops on them. I tried my best to not get wet by the plants because I didn't have a rain coat on. I made my way down to this little bank when I slipped and nearly fell on my bum.

I made my way to slowly down to the creek when  I grabbed a branch so I wouldn't slip. I grabbed a tall stick so I could see how deep it actually was. The water went all the way up to 3/4. I wanted to get a bit closer to see if my gumboot could touch the bottom of the creek without getting water inside. I took the step when I slipped in the mud and SPLAT! I fell in the creek, I started flowing down stream when I grabbed a branch. I was crieing because it was soo cold.

My mum said to me  "I will be right down just grab onto a branch so you don't go down stream". I pulled myself out using the branch, I was drenched and I had water coming out of my gumboots.
Mum helped me back over the fence. Once we got back up to the house I had a nice warm bath and got dressed.

Diving into Snow

I was just about to go into the magic carpet machine when I saw how fast it was going. I said to myself I can do this, I will not fall on my face. The man that was controlling it told me how to get on because my mum told the man that I was a beginner.

I didn't squat down in time so I could get on it safely so I fell on my back. He asked if I wanted get back on and have another try but I said no. I jumped off the magic carpet and went to find mum. Mum was at the back of the line with Cooper waiting to go.

We were waiting for Coopers friend who was up there at the same time as us. Cooper's friend, Jack and his mum, Bridget are pro skiiers so they sort of taught us how to skii properly. Bridget taught me how to steer, stop, slow down and move.

I thought it would be good if I had another go at the magic carpet, so I did. And I made it every single time I tried.I started becoming good at skiing. I even had a go at skiing down a steep hill. One time when I was going down a not so steep hill in happy valley (which was where we were skiing)I went a little off track and went down into the ditch where some rocks were, It was like Sooo hard trying to get back up the slope but Bridget helped me make it I made it.


One time when I was going down the hill I was going too fast and I wasn't doing the proper way to slow down. I went staright down to the ground to stop in front of everyone that were waiting for the magic carpet. Knowone laughed though, and that was actually really suprising.

 As soon as I found mum after diving into the snow, we finished skiing and went to get some food like hot chips and some drinks. I hopped out of my skiis and had my food then took off my helmet, goggles and gloves. As soon as we had finished our food we went to find Cooper and Jack to tell them we are going but we couldn't find them.

We had found cooper but Jack was the one we couldn't find. His mum Bridget was starting to get worried when he turned up out of knowhere.  We decieded that it was time to go back to the car start heading back home. By the time we saw the line to get up the elavator.

Even though I wanted to go up the elavator I didn't want to wait in the long line that went from the elavator to where you get the passes from. We decided it was best to walk up the steep way which meant climbing up a really steep hill.

Yes, I learn't many things on how to take care of a horse. 

I learn't more things than I expected. 

What has Tripped you up while doing this learning challenge:

I have been tripped up at the the start.

I tripped up at the start because I didn't know what to do. 

First I was in a group with Ellie and Violet, but then we decided that I wanted to do something diffrent than them so we split up and then I went by myself. 

I decided that I wanted to do something about horses and how to take care of them because I am going to be getting a horse next year.

I then talked to Mrs McA and Mr A about it and they said yes to me being able to do that sort of learning challenge.

Why I Chose this challenge:

Because I want to learn how to take care of a horse and I love horses.

I will learn how to take care of a horse and it will also help kids who want to learn how to ride or learn how to take care of a horse or even both.

What has been difficult along the way:
Probably finding the right task for me to do. Also finding all the information

The Galloping Horses & Sisters

Why I chose to write about horses & the Wilson Sisters:
I choose to write about horses because I love horses and they are my favourite animal in the world.  
I chose to write about the Wilson Sisters because They are my favourite horseriders, Trainer, Author and Filmer.
I horseride nearly evreytime I am allowed to and can,
Since my cousin has a horse she lets me ride him.

Goal: Personal Voice.
Hook Writing

BANG!!! Went the door as I raced inside to get mum’s ipad. The next minute I heard constent yelling, . I ran outside thinking what could have been so major. And then at that moment forward I thought I was never going to see them again.

I had saw that the bunnies cage had rolled over into the garden ditch, By the wildest wind in the west. I thought oh god what happens if I never see Rascal again. I won't have a bunny anymore. I was so upset I started screaming and crying.

I found Rascal under the hedge round the back. I had to hurt him. I thought I would have lost him but no. Now onto the next bunny, Twitch. I saw Twitch he was running towards the garden. I quickly handed Jack Rascal. Jack had said to me " calm down they are just bunnies"


I countiuned his sentence by saying " bunnies I will probably never see again"
I saw him Twitch the one thats the cheekiest. He was right by the garden, I had to be really quite otherwise he would know that I am there. I dived to catch him, he was so hesitant to get away but I didn't let him.

I tryed to yell out to Cooper to come outside to help me but he just sat inside watching T.V. I told Jack to switch with me and give Cooper, Twitch and tell him what happened. Jack followed me inside to Cooper. Mum said to play with them until she gets their cage all fixed up.


We played with the bunnies for half an hour and then put them away.
I hope they want get out again.

my feelings before camp.

My writing goal is: Describe my writing better and Personal Voice. 

Frightened

I am frightened of the big slimy eels that are in the lake where we go Kayaking. I don’t want to get bitten by an eel. I am also frightened of the big spiders in our cabins. I really don’t want them to crawl on my face at night. I also really don’t want to roll out of bed onto the ground or on Georgia. I don’t want the possums to scratch on my cabin window to wake me up at night. The last thing that I am scared of is mosquitoes biting me, so I get big itchy bites.

Excited

I am excited about camp because I will get to try kayaking for the second time in my whole entire life, and I get to be in a cabin with my BFF’s and they are Georgia.M and Violet. We are in the Bellbird cabin. I am also excited about sleeping in a bunk bed because I always sleep in a single bed.I am also Excited about camp because my mum's coming with me to sort out the food. I can’t wait to go to camp.

Nervous

I am Nervous because I might get carsick along the way or I might sleepwalk at night. I just don’t want to do any of those things at camp and I also don’t want to roll out of bed at night.

Week 3 highlights

The beach picnic      17/02

We were the first to go in the water. Everyone ran in and once we touched the water everyone screamed because it was that cold. We were in for awhile before the boys came running. They didn’t scream when they touched the water the just dove straight in. I took a while to go under though. Every Time a big wave came, everyone shouted “ BIG WAVE .” When a big wave came I was ready to get washed into shore. But I never go all the way in. About 20 minutes later we got called back in. I just Started playing the sand after I was dressed.

8 facts about me

Today Mrs Rogers made us write our names and a number on toilet paper. She didn’t even tell us why. It was really weird. After morning tea we sat down on the mat and she told everyone why we did it. She said that we had to write the number of facts we wrote on the toilet paper. I wrote 8 so I need to write 8 facts about me.

Here they are.

1. When I was younger I used to play ripper rugby at Tukapu Rugby Club
2. I love horses and I do horse riding at clearwater riding School

Moving house

Term 1 Week 1

You can invite anyone in the world to dinner at your house - who would you invite and why? Have you ever moved house? What was that like? If you owned a shop, what kind of shop would it be and why?

 

Moving house

When I was born I lived on Cowling RD. We lived in a 3 bedroom house so there wasn’t much room, because their were 5 of us now and our puppy Meg. Once I was old enough to sleep in a proper bed (not a cot) I got Coopers bedrooom. When I got my own bedroom my brothers had to share a bedroom. By the time I was 1 we got a lamb, even though we didn’t live on farm.  We got rid of the lamb after awhile because she was getting to big for our backyard. I was 2 when the lamb had to get sold. Mum and dad bought this land that had a farm on it. They decided to build a new Home Sweet Home. We had sold our house had been Sold So we were at our grannys house until the house was ready for everything go in. After about 6 years in our new house, I was just about 8 when I met the owner of my old house. She invited me to her birthday party, the house looked so diffrent.
